How exciting to have two movies coming out this summer that have to do with the food industry, sustainable agriculture, and what we can do to eat better, be healthier, and protect the planet.
I'm so sorry that I missed the chance to screen "Fresh," a film by Ana Sofia Joanes, at Harvard this weekend. But I was super-inspired by the trailer (see below), and by my friend April's take on the film over at her blog, Wicked Tasty Harvest.
Also coming soon is "Food, Inc.," which seems equally worthy but perhaps more focused on consciousness-raising on industrial agriculture, where "Fresh" seems more focused on the ways in which farmer-pioneers like our "Omnivore's Dilemma" friend Joel Salatin are producing gorgeous food without hurting anybody in the process. Is it pioneering to go back to an old way of farming? In this climate, I think yes.
