Back in June, I decided to clone the New Dawn rose that's meant so much to me at the condo I just moved out of. I was worried that moving would upset the 4 little Ziploc baggie-greenhouses I had set up in hopes that I could start a new New Dawn here at our new home.
But keeping them by a bright window but out of direct light, calmly relaxing in their plastic houses, has apparently paid off! Because today, when I gingerly lifted them up, I saw this on the bottom of 2 of the 4 bags:
Those are bona fide roots! Now I'm just waiting for some new growth to appear, and then I'll gently and gradually open the bag to harden them off. Hopefully by September they'll be ready to ease into the ground and get ready to meet me with some springtime pink.
The metaphor is so rich - these roses have put out roots, are reaching out settle into healthy ground. Moving into this house, so have I. It's all good in the 'hood....
